At TypeRide, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the way virtual pilots learn and master the art of flying. Founded by Zack Weisenburger, a seasoned airline instructor pilot, aviation subject matter expert, and flight simulation enthusiast, our mission is to provide structured, comprehensive training programs that elevate the flight simulation experience to new heights.
Our Story
The seeds of TypeRide were planted in Zack’s early childhood, sparked by countless hours spent at the Atlanta airport marveling at the wide body aircraft preparing for overseas flights. This fascination with aviation was further fueled by his passion for flight simulators, starting with Microsoft Flight Simulator 98.
Zack’s journey from a young flight enthusiast to a professional pilot is a testament to his dedication and love for aviation. Beginning flight training at the age of 11, working at his local airport during high school, and serving as a paratrooper and forward observer in the army, Zack’s diverse experiences shaped his deep understanding of both real and virtual aviation.

After his military service, Zack completed his flight training, gaining invaluable experience as a bush pilot in Alaska, and later joining the airlines. His career progressed rapidly as he took on roles such as pilot recruiter, airline simulator instructor, and eventually, a dream position flying the Boeing 777. He also became a ground instructor, teaching 767 and 777 pilots, and a Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer subject matter expert , developing advanced system and procedures courseware for the airlines and consulting on training needs.
Our Vision
TypeRide was born from Zack’s vision of creating a realistic and structured training environment within the flight simulator community. Recognizing the need, TypeRide aims to offer a library of training courses and virtual certificate Programs, covering a wide range of topics from airline systems to general aviation, helicopters, and military aircraft operations. The company will also seek to bridge the gap between sim and real world aviation with pathway resources and partnerships.
Our goal is to make advanced aviation training accessible and cost-effective for virtual pilots, enabling them to fully utilize their add-on aircraft and enhance their flying skills.
